Hybrid Artificial Boundary Conditions for the Application of Blunt-Body Aerodynamic Noise Prediction

A hybrid artificial boundary condition (HABC) that combines the volume-based acoustic damping layer (ADL) and local face-based characteristic (CBC) is presented to enhance absorption of waves near computational boundaries. This method applied prediction aerodynamic noise from a circular cylinder immersed in uniform compressible viscous flow. Different ADLs are designed assess their effectiveness whereby effect mesh-stretch direction on wave ADL analysed. Large eddy simulation (LES) FW-H analogy implemented predict far-field noise, sensitivities each approach HABC compared. In LES computed propagation field fluctuation pressure frequency-domain results, spurious reflections at edges found be significantly eliminated by through effective dissipation incident along wave-front ADL. Thereby, results good agreement with predicted using method, which observed just affected slightly reflected waves.
